Helping out with a Monster Challenge…

Posted: March 3rd, 2014 - Author: Rav

We are proud to announce our corporate sponsorship – supplying t-shirts, beanies and fleeces for participants and volunteers, to support Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres flagship fundraising event, Monster Bike and Hike.

The event takes place on the bank holiday weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May 2014 and takes in some of Scotland’s most awe inspiring scenery, starting under the shadow of Ben Nevis in Fort William. Participants then head out along the Caledonian Canal and the Great Glen Way taking in views of Loch Ness en route to Inverness.

Chairman and Co-founder of 1612 Design, Rav Singh said ‘’I am delighted to be working with Maggie’s Monster Bike & Hike. I participated in the event myself two years ago; I managed to complete the Bronze stage so I know how challenging but thoroughly rewarding taking part is, so you don’t need be an Olympian to take part!”

Senior Event Manager Claire Benjamin said: “It takes a great deal of determination to take part in Monster but by all accounts it is a hugely rewarding experience both physically and mentally. We pull out all the stops to make sure that Monster is a bank holiday weekend to remember for all participants and volunteers. It is inspiring to see the teams coming over their chosen finish line and the satisfaction and joy in their faces.

Over 600 people will make a Monster difference for people with cancer by taking on Maggie’s stunning outdoor adventure in the Scottish Highlands! This 24-hour team event challenges our participants to bike 31 miles and then to hike 9, 23 or 41 miles to our Bronze, Silver or Gold finishes. Maggie’s supports its bikers and hikers from start to finish making sure they have an unforgettable experience on this exhilarating and demanding course. We wouldn’t be able to run this event without the amazing support of our corporate partners such as 1612 Design. This year we will be selling branded Beanie Hats to our Support Team members and giving each participant their very own Monster t-shirt thanks to the support of 1612 Design’’

2014 will be the eleventh year of Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike, with the event having raised over £5 million for Maggie’s to date. Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends. Built in the grounds of NHS hospitals, the Centres are warm and welcoming places, with professional staff on hand to offer the support you need to find your way through cancer.

Celebrating The Ampersand Success

Posted: November 11th, 2013 - Author: Gill

We were delighted to read in last month’s press about the recent success of our client The Ampersand Hotel.

The hotel, in the London district of Kensington, has been named by TripAdvisor as the second-best new hotel in Europe, based on user reviews, and eighth most-highly rated in the world.

We have worked with the hotel prior to the opening in the summer of 2012 and continue servicing their uniform needs to this day. I remember visiting the premises so many times and each time being amazed at the transformation of the shabby, old fashioned building that it once was. The build work inevitably had its challenges, with unforeseen difficulties and delays.

The uniform design was also not without it’s hitches…I think we submitted 3 different looks until the client had agreed a look they were completely happy with. We like working with clients who really get involved in the designs, it really is the best way to find a uniform that works best for you.

It’s great news when we hear of our clients successes and we are proud to play a little helping hand. Ampersand – We Salute You!

The Chambers Edinburgh

Posted: June 14th, 2013 - Author: Gill

We are delighted to be supplying the uniforms for the staff at the soon to be open venue The Chambers Edinburgh. Following on from the successful opening of Merchiston Residence in 2010, Chris Stewart Group is launching The Chambers as part of the Advocate’s Close development.

Bespoke interiors, outstanding views and an unparalleled location will set this 32 apartment development apart from anything else in Edinburgh and the UK. The apartments range from 1 bedroom units to an amazing penthouse. The historic buildings dating back to the 1400′s have been carefully integrated with complimentary contemporary architecture and cutting edge technology. Fabrics sourced and manufactured from the Isle of Bute compliment the heritage of the apartments whilst delivering a luxurious contemporary feel.

The staff will be wearing smart charcoal pinstripe suiting with crisp white open neck shirts and blouses, giving a smart yet relaxed informal look. We’re proud to be part of this exciting new development.

Keeping (and looking) clean & tidy!

Posted: March 13th, 2013 - Author: Simon

We were asked to design and supply a uniform for a new project within the Vax cleaner organisation. Vax had decided to introduce ‘in store’ demonstrators within their retail outlets, to help explain the operation and benefits of their various electrical cleaning products to the general public. They approached us to design a look which fitted their needs.

They wanted a smart and easily identifiable uniform for their newly formed ‘Team Vax’ employees, and the brief was that it had to be comfortable and easy to wear, but also had a clear, brand led image. 1612 Design provided a smart gilet, shirt and blouse, all of which were personalised with the Vax company logo.

The uniform is currently being worn by a small team but if it proves popular with both staff and customers alike it will be rolled out UK wide later in 2013.
